Special COVID-19 food distribution and vaccination event this Saturday, July 24

The Hayward-based nonprofit social service agency La Familia is holding a special COVID-19 food distribution and vaccination event this Saturday, July 24, from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at La Familia’s Cherryland COVID-19 testing site at 20095 Mission Blvd. in Hayward.

In partnership with Alameda County Community Food Bank and Eden Youth and Family Center, the event and program are free and available to everyone regardless of place of residence or immigration status. No pre-registration is required.

A total of 150 doses of COVID-19 vaccines are available, and all three vaccination types are being offered—Pfizer, Moderna and Johnson & Johnson. To be vaccinated, individuals must be at least 12 years old. Minors between 12 and 17 years of age must be accompanied by a consenting adult. For a vaccination, some form of personal identification is required—such as a driver’s license, school ID, passport or an ID card issued by any other country.

The event has enough food supplies to serve approximately 500 individuals. People interested in receiving a box of food but for whom transportation is a challenge can arrange for home delivery on Friday, July 23, by calling La Familia in advance at (510) 954-0560.

Free ice cream sundaes also are being provided.
